SenX Technology Introduces FirstLook™ Automotive Engine Diagnostic Sensor

Midland, MI -- September 3, 2003 -- SenX™ Technology LLC announces the introduction of the FirstLook™ Automotive Engine Diagnostic Sensor. This product represents an entirely a new class of piezo electric data sensors, based on recently issued US and Foreign patents. The FirstLook Automotive Engine Diagnostic Sensor is built using this technology, and is uniquely designed for diagnostic applications in the automotive and diesel engine aftermarket.

FirstLook is a pulse detection sensor, and is intended for use with most commercially available dual trace lab scopes. The FirstLook sensor responds to pulses generated by the normal operation of internal combustion engines as shown below.

Diagram of Working Sensor

With FirstLook it is now possible to have a more complete picture of an engines performance, very quickly and easily. A trained user can rapidly find burnt valves, bad injectors and other engine performance problems without disassembly of the engine...and in a fraction of the time otherwise required. Because it is a piezo-electric device, no external source of power is ever required. It is an intrinsically safe device.

FirstLook data always shows dynamic pressure deviation from a norm, and never indicates absolute pressure. This is a dynamic differential pressure sensor, and not an absolute pressure gauge. When an engine turns over, it generates an exhaust pulse every time a valve opens. The lab scope trace of these pulses over time will show how the basic engine is performing. In particular, it is easy to see how each cylinder is performing relative to the others.

The FirstLook user is always making diagnostic comparisons between cylinders or injectors. The primary objective of a FirstLook analysis is to determine whether a perceived problem lies within the basic core engine, or if it is elsewhere. Computers today often mask these basic problems, but FirstLook gathers real, uninterpreted engine data, and allows this decision to be made with confidence.

Saving time is where FirstLook users make their money. They usually run just three tests in the tail pipe: Cold Crank, Idle, and Power Brake, as described in our website www.senxtech.com. In five minutes or less they have a visual comparison between cylinders allowing a decision whether to continue with basic engine issue diagnosis or to look elsewhere for the solution. Unfortunately, FirstLook is not the Holy Grail of Do-Alls, and cannot solve or find every problem, but it can point the mechanic to basic engine function problems in short order, and with a high degree of accuracy. That is the great value to be found in running a FirstLook diagnosis before ever touching a wrench.

We are confident that the regular use of the FirstLook Automotive Diagnostic Sensor will save any engine repair shop many hours time and avoid much wasted effort, putting many more dollars to the bottom line.
